Title: What is the "on-boarding procedure" for USR to support an event ?
Post by: MichaelB on April 04, 2012, 12:59:17 PM
Hi, First time here.
Please advise the on-boarding process for USR to support a Hertfordshire Charity Ride of some 60 - 150 riders. The Police have Authorised the route, a risk assessment has been completed, A Ride leader is arranged.
I urgently need a response today as the Herts police have pulled out of supporting the event due to funding and it being a charity event and not a road safety event. The Charity is Herts Air Ambulance one close to many bikers hearts.
Unless I can reassure the event organisers today 4/4/12 that I can muster up "some" assistance the event will be cancelled.
Thanks.
Michael

We need to talk to the organiser ASAP. I am willing to pop along for a chat with them and the local police if  nessessary.

We cannot let his ride fail for the sake of a couple of  USR's.

Hi All,
Many thanks for all the responses, and E Mail. Apologies for not responding earlier, Family Easter Holiday prevent any IT use !!
I have responded to Penelope (Not sure of her Tag name on here) by E Mail.
We have 5 of us from the Herts and Beds Advanced Motorcyclists acting as Ride Leader and Tail End Charlie (The fastest I have gathered a team for an event in my life.)
The event is definitely on!
I will leave Penelope in charge of relations with USR as I know some 5 USR's have been identified with an interest.
Thanks very much all for your support at such short notice for all of us.
Best Regards
Michael

Hi. the event is 5th May (Saturday) Starts at 09:30 at the Saracens Rugby Training Ground St Albans - Old Albanians RFC Ride starts circa 12:00 to get us 40 odd miles to Watford Vicarage Road Football Ground for the game with Exeter.

Do tell your friends as ticket take up at the moment is a little disappointing
Thanks

Michael,

You say there hasn't been many signed up for this, how many are we talking?

Weaver - I'd like to help if 1: I can & 2: am needed, I don't want to travel 90 miles each way for a run that isn't very large and there are more URS's than riders  :-[

Hopefully I will know approx numbers in time to prevent that Graham.  In fact if there are no more than 30 or 40 riders, I don't think any of us will be needed as Michael has some IAM marshalls involved.  Will let you know.

Cheers
