Hello I am Hugh Terry I passed my bike test back in the 60's and rode regularly till the early 70's then domestic responsibilities took over and my beloved Mini, rebuilt from a shell and highly tuned.about twelve years ago I got back into biking with a Thundercat. That was fine until I took it for a service, the dealer had a blue sports bike at a reasonable price so I put a deposit down and went home clutching the bumph. Well it turned out I had bought an R1! The R1 was fantastic only to be destroyed by white van Man six months later. Eventually I was able to replace it and started to train for my Advanced Test which I passed in 2009.
Currently I ride regularly for SERV S&SL and act as their Safety Advisor. Why? We'll it is my day job - sorry someone has to do it!
Why have I joined USR? The experience and more reasons to go biking!
HI Hugh, welcome on board, as you may already be aware we have several of your SERV buddies already on board and I look forward to meeting up with you and welcoming you in person, so is your R1 a serve bike, express deliveries :D
Am sure you will be a great addition to the team, and maybe can help us polish our stewarding and incident managment :D

Thanks, no the R1 is for fun, I use my Fazer for SERV duties.

Thanks for the reminder to post an intro......I am Bazza (Barrie) and I am the leader of Bikemarshals , a fairly well long established team of motorcycle marshals who are based in the north west uk. We do mainly sportive cycle events but some athletic and marathon events. The reason I signed up for Unity Riders Forum is that firstly I am nosey and like to learn what others are up to.....I believe that its vital for us to share good practise and learn from each other....and I often receive enquiries for work down in the south of England and also from riders who would like to take up marshalling and are located in the southern counties....I am most happy to refer on.
On a personal note, I live in Northwich, Cheshire and work in the Community Safety Dept of Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service and I ride a partially liveried Pan 1300.

I'm Terry (AKA Magic Man, AKA Tigger).
Born again biker comes to mind ........ passed my test back in the day when "gay" meant happy and Triumph was a British bike (no I'm not and yes that long ago).
Got back into bikes a few years ago and rather than go out and kill myself on a "1000cc Kamawaker jingjong" decided to build up to a big bike slowly. So got myself a 50cc AJS Regal Raptor. Sold that after a little while (like when I got overtaken by mobility scooters) and moved up to a 125 Cruiser (Pioneer Nevada). It was cheap, reliable and was only meant as a stepping stone.
This year I moved up to a Honda 650 Deauville (2nd hand of course) and will probably stick with that. Not into these street racer type bikes, I know that I couldn't handle the power and the very thought of going 140+ on two wheels terrifies me. (4 wheels? any day of the week )
If you've read this far you probably need to do something with your life! No! seriously, you've probably gathered that I don't take myself too seriously. I've got work for that (Information Security and Data Protection Consultant - yes it's really that boring).
Apart from the bike my other main hobby is I'm a semi pro magician.
No, I can't make something disappear; and
Yes, I can cut people in half (I just gotta finish the course so I learn how to put them back together).
That's me, nice to meet you all, and if I say something that can be taken two ways and one of those ways causes offence, I meant the other one!
About my Ride As previously mentioned it's a Honda Deauville 650 (T Reg) that, I got earlier this year. When I got her she was pretty standard but, I've put a few toys on her since.
- Switch for heated grips (having left them on and flattened by battery that was a must!)
- Indicator warning buzzer and LED (I regularly forgot them - why oh why can't they make the dashboard lights brighter?)
- Hazard warning lights
- 2 power sockets (switched)
- 66 DRL LEDs on the front (48 on the chin grill and 18 on the forks) (switched)
- Small strobes (to be switched) (Does anyone know how to waterproof the control box so it can be externally mounted?)
I'm also looking at the ubiquitous comms gear when we get recommendations!
I'm not IAM, RoSPA or any of those other things, but I will be working towards achieving that (as well as FBOS).
I had the good fortune to attend the USR Machine Control Day in April and was made to feel very welcome. Albeit I, initially, felt quite intimidated thinking "all these people are clearly skilled riders and I'm not". But I was soon put at my ease by everyone.
My next USR outing was the Ride of Respect on 1st June. Last year I rode as a participant. This year, I was very proud to be part of the USR team! It was good to meet a lot more people and be part of such a great event.
I'm down for 13/7 and 27/7 so if you're there, I'll see you there

Recently joined USR following about a decade of Advanced riding and years of riding prior to that, mostly on Honda's.
Currently riding a Honda Goldwing F6B, mostly for pleasure but still observing with TVAM and help out on a number of their courses. Always looking for new skills and ways of enjoying the bike and thought this may be a way of doing that while putting something back as well.
Live in Bracknell but ride as far and wide as I can...

Have I done this already? Can't remember. So anyhow, hi all. I'm Bob. Came along to the Machine Control Day and assisted Tail End Charlie on the Berks air ambulance ride. For my sins I'm an ex traffic plod and will be starting as a Highways Agency Traffic Officer in the next few weeks. I ride an ST1100 for this and SERV Wessex and have a VTX 1300 cruiser as a club bike. Looking forward to getting involved and would like to know more about the mentoring program. Hoping to be at Round The Harbours at the weekend. I'm RoSPA Gold and IAM F1rst but need to do an FBOS course.

I have been riding for a few years currently booking a date to take my IAM. I have a Honda CBR 1000 f and my tourer Yamaha XJ Diversion 900. One day stuck on a train thought get a bike and loved it. last year went to Germany, this month going to Ireland.
I commute to central London an my Yamaha but really enjoy the twisties and touring, have done a few charity runs

Held a full bike licence for some 28 years.
I am an observer with the Kent Advanced Motorcycle Group and very active within that group with the assistance of machine control days, observed ride etc and serve on their committee.
I enjoy very much helping others to become advanced motorcyclists, it is very rewarding, if you can show some one one thing in life and it makes a difference to the way they ride, then its been all worth while.
I have been associated with the USR's for a number of years and assisted when I have had the time which to be honest has not been that often.
I have a passion for riding and enjoy that great feeling of escaping from the rat race, when it me and the bike.
I enjoy touring and group riding with various other groups.

My name is jason
I ride a Gs1200R BMW
i been riding for 10+years,and before that had the chance to ride the old army bikes once in a while many years ago.I am presently with the British armed forces "reserves" and have served 23+ years,at present i am a Cpl (regimental Police) Now called RDS (regimental Duty Staff) and am a BCDT instructor (battlefield casualty drill Instructor),and have other qualifications some with the TTFU.
I have always wanted to be able to use my experience and knowledge to assist or even help others, and that was one of the main reasons i came to join you guys, and also i spent a day with Steve (that was fun) oh and Tamas.
On trip wise, i have traveled down to morocco,and a few other countries and have also done a solo trip to Venice and back,and i enjoy riding as its one way to escape from some stresses.I also work in the film industry,in front and behind the camera,and also do SFX (special effects and Props)
I am married with one kid (she is 24 years of age).
responsibilities,while away i have been the group medic for some trips,and usually carried all the gear,but i always like to challenge my self,so try to do any medical advance or normal courses i can may they be online or within a Training center, i recently did a AED online course, just to keep up.
I am handy with most things,but not professional in anything except two things.one being a squaddie,and the other being there when some one is hurt.
I have a sense of humor, i try not to talk much,and i like to learn new things,Crazy no ::) ,adventures yes ;D ,multi tasking,depends what it is,and that's me. ???

Hi All, My name is Harley (and no, my bike is a Suzuki Bandit).
Passed my bike test back in March this year, completed a BikeSafe day in August where I was directed to IAM and from there joined LAM, passing the advanced test earlier this month with a F1rst.
I attended the Phoenix Toy Run last weekend which is what prompted me to join after seeing the great job the USRs did guiding us all up to Rutherford school.

I have just spotted this on the forum and although i have attended a social run and last weekends Kempton to Reading bike run, i will introduce myself
I am still just about working as i own 3 companies but my boys are taking over slowly, so this gives me the time to come and enjoy riding with you all.
I have been riding since i was 8 years old, and have had so many bikes over the years, it would take too long to go through them
I currently ride a BMW S1000XR and my runabout is a Kawasaki ninga 650 which i may use on USR events as my BMW did not like the slow going on cycling events
I passed my IAM's advanced and advanced plus many years ago but have kept my skills up by observing for my local IAM's club, i was also chairman of the club until Dec17 when i decided to give someone else a go
I live on the south coast in a village called Titchfield.
I look forward to getting qualified as a fully fledged USR asap, so will see you at as many events as i can
