The original TT was famous for falling off. They redesigned the mounts etc after that, and gave away free tethers for V1 owners.

Hi all.

My name is Bill and I'm from Dagenham .... I know I know, someone has to be :p

Anyway, been riding since 2009 on road and currently have a VFR800 vtec, previously having a 600 hornet.

I'm due to start work with east of England ambulance service shortly and train as a technician.

I would like to know more info on what's needed to join you on the road :) ?

Regards

Bill, to join us on the road you need to hold or have a commitment to obtain an advanced rider qualification (e.g. IAM or RoSPA). From there you are inducted (it's not painful) as an associate rider. After having participated in a number of events where you will be assessed, undertaken a FBoS (or equivalent) first aid course and a USR training day, if deemed suitable you are elevated to full USR status.

Slightly off topic...but...I bought a second hand TomTom Rider version 1 off ebay a couple of years ago which was ok...did everything I needed it to do although it was a bit dated in features etc.      Last year I marshalled Pedal for Scotland and stopped in a Glasgow hotel for the weekend.   On the Monday morning I left the hotel to ride home to Cheshire.....I clipped the TomTom into its bracket and started off downhill on lane 3 of a one way system....I ran over a bump and the satnav flew off its bracket landing in lane 2 and skidding across the tarmac into lane one.    Fortunately there was not vehicles to my left and all the cars behind saw what was happening and came to a stop. I too stopped, put the Pan on its stand and rather red faced walked across and picked the satnav up...expecting the screen to be cracked at the very least.....shaking it I could not hear anything rattling inside.......reaching the bike, I refitted it to its bracket (this time checking for security) and pressed the button........Unbelievably it kicked into life and took me home, the only sign of its absconding was some slight scratching on the aluminium body..........they made them old tomtoms tough   !!!! :)

Hello all
If you haven't guessed from my user name, I'm Richard, newbie. I'm down in Eastleigh Hampshire, am a local observer with the IAM, and ride a Beemer R1200RT.

Unlike a lot of people here, I don't ride for Serv. I'm not sure I'd be compus at work the next day! I don't know how you do it. As age creeps along, so my nights sleep seem to become more erratic, so perhaps it isn't as bad as I imagine.

I'm looking forward to accompanying some of you as I hopefully progress from associate to having an assigned number.

Hi There im Nigel just up the road in Winchester  USR 53 any thing you want to know feel free to get in touch, and welcome
regards Nigel
