I went for Zumo 340LM to replace my Zumo 550 that is getting a bit temperamental. Picked it up for £215 as opposed to the £270 direct from Garmin UK Southampton.

Have found that when loading routes into it you need to make sure that the route does not have more than 26 waypoints in it else the device will split the route up. This may sound like a big issue, but most of the route planning tools will now allow you to change what used to be waypoints into shaping points. You can apparently have about 150 shaping points between each waypoint. So noy you can use waypoints for what they were intended for (i.e. places to stop at on a route) and use shaping points to ensure that you take the road you want to get there.

Hello all
If you haven't guessed from my user name, I'm Richard, newbie. I'm down in Eastleigh Hampshire, am a local observer with the IAM, and ride a Beemer R1200RT.

Unlike a lot of people here, I don't ride for Serv. I'm not sure I'd be compus at work the next day! I don't know how you do it. As age creeps along, so my nights sleep seem to become more erratic, so perhaps it isn't as bad as I imagine.

I'm looking forward to accompanying some of you as I hopefully progress from associate to having an assigned number.

Many thanks for todays training especially Chris Pine, Stem, Colin and anyone else who helped.

Sorry I left at the start of the AGM, but I was expected home before 18:30.

Looking forward to seeing many of you at the next event that I am able to attend, which I think is the KFC in Dorset.

Steve
