Over coffee at Reading services, we estimated no more than 3500.

So even if every bike had a pillion that only makes 7000!

Mr Rizla

8000 my arse, must be Julia's blond hair interfering with the counting me thinks..

Very disappointed in the exaggeration too - most unnecessary IMO

Julian Barker [Giuliano] USR 10

Very foolish. How long before the questions arise as to where all the money from 8000 riders has gone?

Hi All.
Just a quick note to say "Thank You" to all involved with the Ride of Respect - in particular Lady P, whose organisational skills were invaluable. It could not have gone ahead without you all.
Although reported numbers have still to be confirmed, one ITV local news report put participant numbers in the region of 4000, so hopefully the event raised a few bob.

I've had no feedback yet from Wiltshire Constabulary, but I suspect there will be a debriefing in the near future. I'll keep you posted.
Regards, John T. (Top Cat)
The USR Team - the impossible we do at once! We need a fortnight's notice for miracles!

Indeed Julian - I suspect it's stupid ego which has given rise to the inflated figures, but as you say people will then be asking where is the money.

I spoke to Anne Cole today and she informed me that they took £10,000 in merchandising on the airfield and still have a lot more orders coming in.

A good day all in all thanks to Stem's initial work, JT's pre event organisation and of course SWMBO on the airfield. Was good to see and ride with everyone and thankfully our services were not needed for anything more than escorting the rides.
