Hi Guys,
I'll try again on this one with as much details as I put in my previous e-mail.
'Don't Forget The Wounded' has been up and running for approximately three years, it was started by the father of one of our Regiment lads that was killed in action in Afghanistan three years ago, the lads name was Jeff Docherty and was a member of The Parachute Regiment, he told his father if anything happened to him he was organise a stretcher race around his local village in Remembance of him, his father JJ Snr. did exactly that.
Jeff Docherty and his wife Joyce are tireless visitors to Selly Oaks Hospital in Birmingham visiting our wounded lads between four and five times per week to ensure that they are well cared for and to see what their requirements are prior to the MOD getting involved.
I was asked approximately a month or so ago if I could possibly organise a group of bikers to become involved with this event, so here I am, we need to get as many bikers as possible to show our lads how much we suppoert them.
Jeff Snr. and his wife Joyce run a pub in Southam, Warwickshire called 'The Bull' where this annual event is based, the event is picking up momentum by the year, this year there will be several events including as I previously stated, a stretcher race around the village, a Static Dsiplay Team by The Parachute Regiment to mention a couple, but there are many more, this year also, as in the past three years, there will be quite a few of our wounded lads there along with their carers, this year's event will also be covered by National Television and the Press, please come along and support this event and show our lads how much we are with them, a selection of biker groups will be leaving The Trafalgar Pub in Short Street, Aldershot (top of the High Street) at precisely 1200hrs. on the 18th.
check out the website at ; www.jjsmemorialfund.org   for updated and more information.
Due to the last day of The Royal Ascot Races being held on the same day, travelling via Bracknell and Maidenhead on to the M40 is 'NOT' an option.
The planned route will be as follows : ALDERSHOT --A287-Odiham --M3-J5 --(ON) --M3-J6 --(OFF) --
A339-Newbury --A34 -Oxford/Bicester --M40-J9 (ON) --M40-J10-(OFF -Rest & Refuel Cherwell Valley Services) -
Rejoin M40-J10 --M40 -J11 -(OFF) --A422-Left -3rd. Roundabout --Right- A423- SOUTHAM..
Approx mileage - 95 miles,
ETA SOUTHAM 1600hrs.
Please pass this on to all in your contacts list and lets show our lads how much we support them.
